  • Ali Riaz Chaudhry - President and Chief Executive Officer

  • Ali Riaz Chaudhry is leading the largest microfinance and mobile money business in the country, under the umbrella of Tameer and easypaisa brands. Prior to joining Tameer, Ali has held various executive positions at large international Banks like Citibank and Barclays across Asia, Middle East, Africa and Europe. He served as CFO for Middle East and Africa region at Citibank, Global Consumer Bank and led Citibank’s Global Consumer Business in Egypt. He was also Managing Director at Barclay’s largest payment business (Barclaycard) in the UK.

  • Mr. Michael P. Foley - Chairman

  • Michael currently serves as CEO of Telenor Bulgaria and Chairman of Tameer Bank, previously he served as CEO of Telenor Pakistan. Michael Foley is an experienced hands-on executive level leader, consultant and speaker on Telecom Media and Technology (TMT) issues. Starting with his first job at Procter and Gamble. His entire career has been focused on commercial and marketing functions including the creation and management of marketing services company in Canada and large commercial teams in the Telco sector. As Chief Commercial Officer of Celtel Nigeria he had overall responsibility for Sales, Retail, Marketing, Service Development, Data Services, Customer care and seven operation regions of the company.

    He was executive director and Chief Commercial officer of Mobitel AD (M-Tel Bulgaria) from March 2004 to July 2005 when the company was sold to Telekom Austria. Mr. Foley has served as Group CCO for emirates International Telecommunication (Dubai, Malta, Tunisia). Additionally Michael worked for Procter and Gamble Inc., New Brunswick Telephone, Bell Canada, was President of @Home Networks (Canada) and served on the Board of Excite Canada. More recently Michael has extended his scope of experience by joining Atlantic lottery corporation as chief business officer. Furthermore Mr. Foley has executed consulting engagements in a number of Middle Eastern countries including an assignment where he lead a team of consultants on a successful engagements to write a winning bid for the second fixed telephony license in Saudi Arabia.

  • Mr. Irfan Wahab Khan - Director

  • Mr. Irfan Wahab Khan currently serves as CEO of Telenor Pakistan and is on the Board of Directors of Tameer Microfinance Bank. Prior to this he served as Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Pakistan. Mr Khan has served as Head of Asia Distribution Program in Telenor ASA (Bangkok, Thailand) and successfully established distribution industrialization Program. He has also served as Group Head of Devices (Group Market) in Telenor ASA (Oslo, Norway) and established common device portfolio selection and sourcing processes in Nordics, CEE and Asian Regions. He also served as Executive Vice President TP and CEO Telenor LDI (Pvt) Ltd and made his contributions in establishing the company as first employee and 'local' member of Management Team from license to over 20 M Subs and yearly revenue of approx 4B NOKs. He has also been Ex- board member with large public and private enterprises (PTCL, PMD, TlDI).

  • Mr. Roar Bjaerum Director

  • In Telenor, Roar holds the position as head of Financial Services in Telenor Group. From 2010, Roar has headed Financial Services in Telenor Pakistan. As a line manager in the leading bank in the Nordic region, Nordea, for 8 years he held key positions in Norway as the Head of Internet and Mobile Banking, Head of Customer Service Centre and Regional Head.

  • Prior to this Mr. Bjaerum also served as a senior advisor and Head of Unit , Management Control Services in Stradec which is a management consulting company which is a management consulting company offering services within strategy and business development, process improvements, project management and use of IT solutions. Mr. Bjaerum had also been associated with Andersen Consulting now known as Accenture. He worked there as a consultant and Senior Advisor- Group for bank and Finance.

  • Roar holds a Master of Science from The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. He also holds an MBA from a program conducted at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management in Boston, USA.

  • Mr. Salim Raza - Independent Director

  • Syed Salim Raza is a Member of The Board of Directors of Tameer Microfinance Bank. He is also the former Governor of State Bank of Pakistan. Prior to his assumption of the office of SBP Governor, he was the CEO of Pakistan Business Council (PBC) since February 2006. He holds a Master’s degree from Oxford University and was the 15th Governor of the State Bank. Raza brought TMFB Bank 38 years of international banking experience.

  • He had been with the Citibank, NA. in various positions that included Country and Regional Management across the Middle East, Africa and the UK, Central and Eastern Europe, based in London from 1989 to 2006. His business experience covers credit and corporate finance, real estate and global asset (bonds & equities) management. He was also the Country Head for Citibank in Pakistan from 1983 to 1987. He has worked extensively on a variety of associated subjects, both exclusively at PBC, and also in partnership with multilateral organizations and Government bodies.

  • Mr. Aslam Hayat - Director

  • He is currently working as Chief Corporate Affairs and Strategy Officer in Telenor Pakistan. Mr. Hayat serves as a Director of Tameer Microfinance Bank Limited. Before joining Telenor, he was working as Center Director of Pacific ICT Regulatory Resource Centre. PIRRC was jointly funded project of World Bank and Asian Development Bank to provide regulatory resource and assistance to all the Pacific Island Countries.

  • Mr. Henning Thronsen - Director

  • Mr. Henning Thronsen has been working in Telenor ASA (Group function), heading Project & Corporate Finance (4 FTEs), a department within Group Treasury, Telenor ASA. He is supporting and controlling all BUs in treasury related issues including Capital Structure, Financing, Risk Management, Governance, Working Capital Management, restructuring, M&A and project support etc. In addition to this Mr. Thronsen serve as a Director of Tameer Microfinance Bank Limited. He is involved in relation to the build-up of Financial Services throughout the Group. He also supporting and controlling other Group investments like Vimpelcom, Amedia (a Norwegian media group) and various JVs etc.

  • He have extensive project leadership competence from many treasury related and cross-functional projects within Telenor Group. Mr. Thronsen participated in many Group M&A projects (Treasury representative) and served as a board member in Telenor Eiendom Holding AS (since 2009) (Telenor's property company). He has more than twenty years' experience from treasury- and finance related positions in large international corporates. Furthermore he has served as CFO for five years before joining Telenor and has held various board positions.
